What is an iTero Scanner?

The iTero Scanner is a digital scanner that takes a 3D picture of a patient's teeth (or tooth depending on what is needed). Prior to having our iTero Scanner, the process for restorative treatment such as crowns or Invisalign took a lot of time to complete. Now, with digital scanning and instant transfers, we can achieve more accurate results in less time.

Goodbye dental putty

The iTero Scanner utilizes a wand to scan the teeth and get the information needed. This means we no longer have to ask patients to sit still with a tray of dental putty in their mouths. 

If you’ve ever had to have a dental impression made then you know that dental putty taste isn’t great. You also know that sometimes more than one dental impression had to be made. This could be due to improper placement or perhaps the mold was damaged in transit to the lab.

Now with the iTero Scanner, we create digital impressions in minutes and send them immediately to be analyzed or to a lab. This means we can begin treating patients much quicker than before.

Features

The iTero Scanner is great for restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and labs. But two of our favorite features on the iTero Scanner include TimeLapse and the Invisalign Outcome Simulator. The TimeLapse compares a patient’s records over time, helping to visualize tooth wear, movement, and gingival changes. If you’re a candidate for Invisalign, we can use the Simulator to help you visualize what your teeth might look like at the end of your Invisalign treatment.
